Civil Construction Project Manager Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Construction Project Manager to lead our heavy civil construction projects from start to finish. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy civil construction, excellent project management skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Planning: Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, working closely with project stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of project goals, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead project teams, including engineers, superintendents, and field staff, ensuring team members understand their roles and responsibilities and fostering a positive working environment.
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to maintain project schedules and ensure milestones are met, adjusting schedules as necessary to address changes and unforeseen circumstances.
  • Budget Management: Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure costs are kept within budget, preparing cost estimates and working with the project team to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation plans, addressing any issues that arise during construction and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all construction work is performed in compliance with project specifications, standards, and quality requirements, conducting site inspections and working with the team to address any deficiencies.
  • Client & Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, owners, and stakeholders, providing regular project updates and addressing any concerns that arise during construction.
  • Safety Management: Promote a strong safety culture on job sites, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies, and working to prevent job site accidents.
  • Contract Administration: Review contracts, negotiate changes, and ensure all contract requirements are met, managing subcontractor agreements and overseeing contract execution.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate project records, including progress reports, change orders, and project closeout documentation, providing regular updates to senior management on project progress and performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in heavy civil construction project management.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale heavy civil projects, including highways, bridges, tunnels, or utility work.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate diverse project teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore) and scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, with OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required for project needs.
