Job Summary:

The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of heavy civil construction projects from start to finish. This includes planning, coordinating, and managing project teams to ensure successful project delivery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy civil construction, excellent project management skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Planning: Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets. Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of project goals, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead project teams, including engineers, superintendents, and field staff. Ensure team members understand their roles and responsibilities and foster a positive working environment.
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to maintain project schedules and ensure milestones are met. Adjust schedules as necessary to address changes and unforeseen circumstances.
  • Budget Management: Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure costs are kept within budget. Prepare cost estimates and work with the project team to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation plans. Address any issues that arise during construction, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all construction work is performed in compliance with project specifications, standards, and quality requirements. Conduct site inspections and work with the team to address any deficiencies.
  • Client & Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, owners, and stakeholders. Provide regular project updates and address any concerns that arise during construction.
  • Safety Management: Promote a strong safety culture on job sites. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies, and work to prevent job site accidents.
  • Contract Administration: Review contracts, negotiate changes, and ensure all contract requirements are met. Manage subcontractor agreements and oversee contract execution.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate project records, including progress reports, change orders, and project closeout documentation. Provide regular updates to senior management on project progress and performance.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in heavy civil construction project management.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale heavy civil projects, including highways, bridges, tunnels, or utility work.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate diverse project teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore) and scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, with OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required for project needs.
