The Opportunity

We are seeking a Principal Software Architect to join our Informatics business unit, within our Rapid and Molecular Diagnostics division. This opportunity is available at our Charlottesville, VA location, our Lake Forest, IL location, or remotely (Eastern time zone working hours).

Job Summary

The Principal Software Architect will be responsible for designing and developing scalable, high-availability solutions for Point of Care data management. This role will play a pivotal role in our product development lifecycle, driving architecture decisions that ensure the long-term success of our products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop scalable, high-availability solutions for Point of Care data management
  • Drive architecture decisions that ensure the long-term success of our products
  • Collaborate with other product teams across ARDx and Abbott to enable integrations between our solutions and other Abbott products
  • Work with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and other members of the Architecture team to ensure that the architecture and design specifications are effective in meeting user needs
  • Provide guidance as necessary to Software Developers for implementation and design questions
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree with 12 years of related experience; or Master's Degree with 10 years of related experience
  • 5+ years of experience with Agile software development methodologies
  • Experience with design and architecture of large-scale, enterprise software solutions, systems, and products
  • Demonstrated ability to guide others as a subject matter expert in software development
  • Experience and thorough understanding of the full software development lifecycle, with an appreciation for the interdependencies between the different stages
