The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Missouri is expanding its pediatric emergency medicine team and is seeking a new faculty member. Ideal candidates will be board-eligible or board-certified in pediatric emergency medicine, demonstrating energy, thoughtfulness, and a collaborative spirit. We are looking for physicians interested in various areas, including clinical practice, education, administrative leadership, and research. Our goal is to align your professional interests with our departmental needs, fostering your career development.

This role presents a unique opportunity to influence a program and enhance pediatric care in the region. You will become part of a dynamic and skilled faculty dedicated to creating a patient-focused environment of excellence. Our values emphasize innovation, quality, teamwork, and respect for individual dignity.

With a robust team of approximately 50 faculty members, 25 advanced practice providers, and 31 residents, the Department of Emergency Medicine:

  • Handles around 120,000 patient visits each year.
  • Is home to the Frank L. Mitchell Jr., MD, Trauma Center, the only verified Level I trauma center in the region.
  • Functions as a certified Level I stroke and STEMI center, serving as an active tertiary care referral facility.
  • Boasts 68 emergency department beds.
  • Includes dedicated staff such as an emergency department pharmacist, social workers, and research support personnel.

Essential Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited pediatric emergency medicine residency program in the U.S.
  • Eligibility for or certification by the American Board of Pediatrics in Emergency Medicine.
  • Possession of an active and unrestricted medical license in Missouri or the ability to obtain one.
