Job Title: Hospital Medicine Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hospital Medicine Specialist to join our patient-centered care team at the University of Missouri School of Medicine. As a key member of our team, you will provide professional medical support services on the Medicine inpatient floors, collaborating with physicians and hospital staff to promote team-based patient care.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments and demonstrate a high level of autonomy and expert skill in the diagnosis and treatment of actual and potential health problems.
  • Orders/performs diagnostic procedures; monitors patient condition, lab values, and results of diagnostic procedures; and develops treatment goals.
  • Collaborates with supervising physicians in difficult or complicated cases and as agreed upon in collaborative agreement.
  • Act as a resource for patients, families, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals in areas of expertise.
  • Obtain and document a complete and focused history and physical and be able to relate other aspects of medical information to the surgeons and physicians.
  • Assists in the identification of trends related to patients and participates in quality improvement activities.
  • Help guide the development and implementation of structure, process, and outcomes standards.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree required.
  • Required Licensure or Certification:
  • Graduation from an American Medical Association (AMA) accredited physician assistant program.
  • May possess a specialty certificate by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Nephrology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Pediatrics or Psychiatry. Possession of a current Missouri license to practice as a licensed Physician Assistant is required.
