Industrial Maintenance Technician Training

The Maintenance Certification Program at Kia Georgia, Inc. is a comprehensive training initiative designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of our team members in the maintenance department.
Key Program Components- Classroom Training: Team members will attend classes at West Georgia Technical College, Monday through Thursday, from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Friday will be dedicated to On-the-Job Training (OJT) at the plant.
- Program Duration: The program will last for approximately 18 months, spanning three semesters.
Individual testing and assessments will be coordinated between HR and the Training Center, ensuring minimal disruption to work schedules. These tests are voluntary, unpaid, and designed to evaluate the team member's understanding of the material.
Eligibility Criteria- Service Requirement: Team members must have completed at least 12 months of service in their current position.
- Corrective Action: Team members must not have any current or active corrective action within the last 12 months.
- Evaluation Ratings: Team members must have a minimum rating of 75 on all evaluations within the last 12 months.
- College Entrance Exam and KMAB: Team members must complete the College Entrance Exam and the Kia Maintenance Aptitude Battery (KMAB), which includes a written assessment and an aptitude assessment.
- Panel Interview: Team members must participate in a panel interview with the Maintenance and Human Resources Department.
- Reimbursement Agreement: Team members accepted into the program will be required to sign a reimbursement agreement, which will be used to reimburse the cost of the training if they leave Kia Georgia, Inc.
- Specialized Skills and Knowledge: Upon successful completion of the program, team members will achieve the following certifications: Industrial Maintenance Technician, Mechanical Maintenance Specialist, and Forklift Certification.
- Job Status and Compensation: Team members accepted into the program will remain at the Production Technician (PTM) job status and will receive compensation at the PTM rate, including overtime and bonuses.
- PTO and LOA: Team members may be allowed to take PTO during the program, but they will not be eligible for LOA once the selection process and/or program begins.
- Failure to Complete the Program: If a team member fails to complete the program, they may be assigned to a different area, shift, or department based on business need and position openings.
