About the Role

This position provides advanced mechanical engineering services in support of campus facilities mechanical systems and utilities or systems and equipment associated with research efforts within an academic or research unit or laboratory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead in the design, installation, and testing of mechanical systems and components.
  • Develop engineering project schedules and make work assignments.
  • Conduct analyses of mechanical system performance and prescribe corrective action where required.
  • Develop plans and specifications for mechanical systems and components.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical systems and may involve oversight of calibration and repair work.
  • Prepare drawings, schematic diagrams, and related documentation associated with mechanical components and systems.
  • Manage project engineering budgets.
  • Interact with vendors regarding procurement and delivery issues.
  • Conduct project reviews for conformance to quality standards and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six to eight years of job-related experience.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification is preferred.
