Oregon State University is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Assistant Professor of Practice in Human Dimensions of Agricultural Water Management. This is a full-time, 12-month, fixed-term position in the Department of Biological & Ecological Engineering.
Key Responsibilities- 40% Extension Teaching and Related Assignments: Develop and deliver educational programs and materials related to human dimensions of agricultural water management, including workshops, training sessions, and online courses.
- 40% Applied Research: Conduct research on human dimensions of agricultural water management, including stakeholder needs assessments, program design, and evaluation.
- 10% Scholarship: Engage in scholarly activities, including publishing research papers, presenting at conferences, and participating in professional development opportunities.
- 10% Service: Provide service to the university and the community, including participating in departmental and college-level committees, and engaging in community outreach and engagement activities.
- Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Sociology, Anthropology, Natural Resources, Public Policy, or a related field with an emphasis in human dimensions of natural resources.
- Demonstrated experience in agriculture and water management educational program development.
- Demonstrated ability to build and support relationships between experts and organizations working on water, agricultural, and/or natural resource issues.
- Demonstrated ability to support the creation and coordination of diverse project teams as well as lead groups in planning, organizing, evaluating, managing, and delegating details associated with the project or program.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, and work with colleagues, stakeholders, the general public, policymakers, academics, and/or students.
- Record of/commitment to work with underrepresented/underserved students or other audiences.
- Life experience, education, and/or training that broaden capacity to equalize learner success or impact underserved audiences.
- Evidence of experience conducting community-based needs assessments using qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods approaches.
- Demonstrated experience working in extension and community-engaged research, particularly in relation to stakeholder needs assessments, reporting, program design, and evaluation.
- Demonstrated informal teaching, community-based outreach, and/or effective use of mass media.
This position requires travel for field research and presentations. Work may take place in varying field conditions and environments. Evening and/or weekend work may be required for conference travel and research work in the field and laboratory.
