Job Summary

The Sterile Processing Specialist will be responsible for collecting, cleaning, and sterilizing medical equipment and instruments to ensure they are properly prepared for use during medical procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sterile processing and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collecting and sorting used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for decontamination.
  • Manually cleaning and sanitizing equipment and instruments to ensure they meet high standards of cleanliness.
  • Operating and maintaining decontamination equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Preparing and packaging decontaminated equipment and instruments for sterilization.
  • Monitoring and testing sterilization equipment to ensure it is functioning properly.
  • Examining equipment and instruments for any signs of damage or wear.
  • Preparing and delivering equipment and instruments to medical staff for use during procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate records of sterilization procedures and equipment maintenance.
  • Controlling inventory and ordering supplies as needed.
Requirements
  • SPT Certificate required.
  • 2+ years of hospital experience required.
  • BLS-AHA certification required.
  • CRCST or CBSPD certification required.
Work Environment

The Sterile Processing Specialist will work in a fast-paced hospital environment with a focus on providing high-quality patient care.

The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team to ensure the smooth operation of the sterile processing department.
