Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) team. As an LPN in our NICU, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to critically ill newborns and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical nursing care to neonates and their families, under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) Care Manager.
- Identify and document patient/family data and observations, and report pertinent findings to the RN Care Manager.
- Implement nursing interventions according to established standards, demonstrating competence in specified nursing care.
- Administer and document medications by all routes, utilizing the five rights and all other related safety recommendations.
- Perform various IV therapy procedures, including verification of peripheral IV solution, examination of a peripheral infusion site, and discontinuation of a peripheral IV device.
- Graduate of an approved school of practical or vocational nursing.
- Licensed as a Practical Nurse in the State of Ohio.
- Completion of an Ohio Board of Nursing approved medication test, such as NAPNES or OAPNES.
- Satisfactory completion of orientation objectives as determined by the manager.
- Basic written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated competence in specified nursing care.
- Positive, effective, and age-appropriate interaction skills with patient/family, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
The LPN will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, providing care to critically ill newborns and their families. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment, communicate effectively with patients and families, and prioritize tasks to ensure high-quality patient care.
