About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physician Assistant to join our team at Resurgens Orthopaedics. As a Medical Specialist - Orthopedic Care, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and support our orthopedic surgeons in providing top-notch medical services.
Job Description:
- Perform comprehensive physical exams, pre-operative and post-operative evaluations, and record findings.
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies (e.g., x-rays, MRIs, CTs, serum/joint fluid labs, Dexa Scans, Vascular Doppler).
- Establish diagnoses, determine treatment plans, implement necessary ancillaries, order additional and selective studies or laboratory evaluations.
- Assist in surgeries and provide call coverage as requested.
- Be responsible for PR/PO and all surgery-related paperwork.
- Consult with specialists and interventional physicians, as predicated by the case's diagnosis and severity.
- Reduce fractures and dislocations.
- Provide minor office surgical care (suturing).
- Remove sutures or staples, change dressings, on patients, and draw up injections.
- Administer injections, oral medications, aspirations of joints, suture wounds, and other clinic procedures.
- Prepare written prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances and authorize prescription refills.
- Assist physicians in applying specialized orthopedic devices.
- Instruct patients and personal representatives regarding medications and treatment instructions and provide patient education in the use of crutches, canes, and other orthopedic devices.
- Record patient progress notes and transcribe orders.
- Triage patient telephone calls, answer questions, and provide consultation and education to the patient and personal representatives.
- Monitor and maintain continuity of care.
- Perform independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
- Participate in peer-to-peer evaluation for procedure authorization.
- Manage patients with direct patient care.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Provide supporting documentation and coding information for all healthcare services provided.
- Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
- Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
- Protect patient privacy in compliance with HIPAA Privacy Regulations.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program (Required)
- 2-3 years of experience as a APP in an Ortho setting WITH surgery experience (Required)
- Must be licensed in State of Texas.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Demonstrated conflict management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail.
- Operating room experience preferred.
Compensation: $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience. Benefits include comprehensive health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
