About the RoleThis is a challenging yet rewarding opportunity for an experienced RN to join our team as a Medical Documentation Specialist. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring timely completion of Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient care.
Responsibilities- Maintain compliance with Medicaid and Medicare regulations, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
- Participate in pre-admission paperwork review to ensure patients meet qualifying medical necessity determinations.
- Attend daily stand-up meetings to coordinate care delivery and reimbursement efforts.
- Audit clinical records to ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation.
- Educate and train staff on documentation guidelines and best practices.
- Initiate and update physician certifications for Medicare Part A patients.
- Prepare for Medicaid audits by reviewing patient records and ensuring accuracy.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A current, valid Texas nursing license (RN or LVN)
- At least 2 years of long-term care experience
- An Acknowledgement of Completion Certificate through the HHSC RUG Online Training for Nursing Facilities
- The ability to effectively communicate, direct, and delegate tasks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
