Deputy Fire Chief/ Emergency Management Specialist

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Deputy Fire Chief to join our team at Tooele City. As a key member of our fire department, you will be responsible for overseeing the safety and training program, supervising volunteer firefighters, and managing the city's comprehensive Emergency Management program.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the fire department's safety and training program to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards.
- Supervise and manage volunteer firefighters to ensure effective and efficient fire operations.
- Develop and implement emergency management plans to protect the city and its citizens from natural disasters and other emergencies.
- Collaborate with other city departments to ensure effective communication and coordination during emergency situations.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the fire department team to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
- High school diploma or equivalent, and an associate's degree or higher in fire science or a related field.
- Eight years of paid or verifiable active volunteer experience in government fire service-related work, including a minimum of four years of supervisory experience as a superior officer.
- Valid Utah driver's license and a driving record acceptable to Tooele City's risk management and insurance standards.
- Current Utah State Firefighter I & II certifications, Hazmat Awareness & Operations, Fire Instructor I, and Utah State Fire Officer I certification.
- Successfully completed all required Homeland Security courses, including NIMS and ICS training.
- Inspector I, Hazmat Tech, and other relevant certifications.
- Primary residency within Tooele City limits or relocation within six months of appointment.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours as needed and be subject to emergency call-back 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- Eligibility for employee benefit package, including participation in the Utah Retirement System.
