The Central Business Office presents an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Senior Billing Specialist.

The Senior Billing Specialist is responsible for processing billing information within the designated system and assisting supervisory personnel in maintaining data quality by identifying potential issues and proposing effective solutions.

Additionally, this role involves supporting management in training new team members.
Weekly reports on accounts are generated to ensure minimal outstanding contents.
All claims are verified, ensuring that edits are collected and released promptly.
Monthly reports on edits by billing area are provided to management.
All controls are verified to ensure no charges are overlooked.
Payment reconciliation processes at the clinics are meticulously followed.
Timely entry of all charges is ensured.
Encounters received are reviewed for all relevant information.
Coordination of corrections for inaccurate vouchers is performed, along with daily voucher report printing for reconciliation.
Compliance with University and unit-level policies and procedures is mandatory to safeguard University assets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School diploma or equivalent; Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles and procedures.
Ability to complete assignments accurately with a keen attention to detail.
Capability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Effective communication skills in both oral and written forms.
Department Specific Functions: Reviews and releases all physician charges from assigned work queues in a timely manner.

Reviews encounters received for all pertinent information:

patient demographic details, guarantor and insurance data, place of service, referrals, claim information, and managed care authorization requirements.

Insurance eligibility is verified, and registration issues are resolved.
Manual entry of paper vouchers for missing charges is conducted.
Erroneous and/or rejected charges are reviewed and corrected.
Credits from patient payments are distributed as necessary.
Charges are assigned to cases and phases.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Any suitable combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
