Position: Lead Engineer for Underground Transmission Systems at Sargent & Lundy
This role offers a balanced work environment, allowing you to split your time between office and remote work, enhancing both productivity and flexibility.
As a Lead Engineer specializing in underground transmission systems, you will leverage your knowledge and skills in the field of underground electrical engineering. Your responsibilities will encompass the design of transmission lines rated for voltages up to 500kV, performing financial assessments, establishing design parameters, and addressing site-specific challenges.
- Design and develop underground transmission systems for voltages reaching 500kV
- Conduct financial assessments, establish design parameters, and manage site-specific challenges
- Execute physical design tasks, including duct bank configurations and cable tension assessments
- Lead small project teams while collaborating effectively with clients and vendors
Qualifications:
Please note that we do not provide sponsorship for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.
Essential qualifications and experience include:
- A Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program
- Expertise in CYMCAP modeling and cable tension calculations
- Over 5 years of experience in underground transmission projects
- Familiarity with XLPE cable design and specification preparation
- In-depth understanding of design codes and standards
- Strong communication skills and meticulous attention to detail
Preferred Skills:
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one within a year
- Knowledge of various cable systems
- Experience with underground distribution or low voltage cable systems
