Maintenance Mechanic II Job Description

Boys Town is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic II to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, adjusting, and repairing complex mechanical systems, HVAC systems, pumps, plumbing, general carpentry, and electrical systems within our hospital and clinic buildings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize intermediate to advanced knowledge to operate and maintain all mechanical equipment, including HVAC systems, hot water heaters, pumps, chilled water systems, steam systems, plumbing, electrical systems, lighting, and utilities.
  • Use power tools and hand tools to make adjustments and repairs as needed.
  • Read meters, gauges, printouts, and other recording devices, and record daily utility logs.
  • Check building condition by walking through mechanical rooms.
  • Create work orders to make repairs.
  • Operate building automation controls systems to view and edit setpoints.
  • Provide proper and safe electrical maintenance service throughout the complex and its clinics.
  • Repair and maintain all plumbing systems.
  • Monitor and maintain the proper working condition of building and equipment hardware, including doors, window latches, locks, and hinges.
  • Carry out a preventative maintenance program and keep associated records.
  • Document work completed and time required as part of the work order system for time recording requirements.
  • Initiate requests for purchasing of materials and supplies necessary to perform the required work.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in building maintenance in the areas of HVAC, mechanical systems, or electrical required.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record and pass an annual Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) check required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of a vocational training program, or license in electrical, plumbing, or HVAC preferred.
