Job Title: Community Life Student Specialist

About the Role:

Broadview at Purchase College is seeking a Community Life Student Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our community, you will be responsible for planning and implementing activities and programs that promote the physical, emotional, and social well-being of our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with planning and coordinating activities, events, and programs that meet the needs and interests of our residents.
  • Set up and manage the removal of chairs and tables for activities.
  • Assist with preparing and distributing the monthly calendar, weekly reminder, event flyers, and newsletters.
  • Direct the movement of residents to and from on-property and off-property events.
  • Direct volunteer activities and provide training.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of resident activity attendance.
  • Research upcoming events and trips.
  • Help build cohesive intergenerational programming and lifelong learning opportunities.
  • Coordinate transportation services with residents, Health Center staff, and Health Navigator.
  • Data input of resident documentation in our EMR system, Vision.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree or pursuing a Bachelors.
  • CPR Certification or willingness to pursue CPR certification.
  • One year experience in a social or recreational program preferred.
  • Experience in geriatrics, recreation, or social administration preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Suite and calendaring required.

Working Conditions:

Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting for approximately 60% of work day. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to push residents weighing up to 250 lbs. in gerichairs and/or wheelchairs. Must be able to read and speak English, hear, and be able to sit and walk intermittently throughout the day. May be exposed to communicable diseases, industrial and household chemicals, offensive odors, and combative behavior.

Salary Range: $18.00
