Role Responsibilities
In the capacity of a Nurse Practitioner, you will evaluate the physical and psychosocial condition of clients through interviews, health histories, physical assessments, and diagnostic evaluations. Your responsibilities may encompass diagnosing medical conditions and executing therapeutic and corrective interventions.
- Failure to uphold your license and/or registration after appointment may result in removal from the position.
- To qualify for appointment and sustain employment, you must not be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any Federal and/or State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program). If appointed and subsequently listed as such, termination of employment may occur.
- Upon appointment, you may be required to enroll as a Medicare provider, obtain and provide your employer with a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number from the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES), and actively engage in necessary participation to enable billing for your services through Medicare and Medicaid. Loss of the ability to bill through these programs may lead to termination of employment.
- Your degree or college credits must be awarded by a regionally accredited institution or one recognized by the NYS Education Department as adhering to acceptable educational standards. If your qualifications were obtained from an institution outside the United States and its territories, independent verification of equivalency is required. For assistance, you may contact the Examination Information Desk of the Department of Civil Service for a list of acceptable evaluators, and you will be responsible for the evaluation fee.
