Job Description

Institute for Community Living is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Direct Support Professional II to join our team. As a key member of our residential care team, you will play a vital role in providing support and services to individuals with severe intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a variety of levels of support and services to individuals with severe intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, including encouraging, guiding, teaching, and advocating for their needs and preferences.
  • Assist individuals with personal care tasks, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, as well as with household chores and meal preparation.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by medical professionals, and assist individuals with self-administration of medications.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the development of individual programs and habilitation plans.
  • Assist individuals with community integration and socialization, including accompanying them to community events and activities.
  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned, including maintenance, cleaning, and fire safety procedures.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, preferably in a residential setting.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with individuals, families, and staff.
