Job Title: Occupational Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at Spectrum Center Schools and Programs. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing direct therapy to students with special needs, including those with autism and emotional disturbance.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement designated student services as detailed in the student's IEP, including the number of hours and designated times.
  • Complete assessment reports within mandated time frames.
  • Communicate results of evaluation and specific recommendations of occupational therapy services to parents, educational staff, and students as needed.
  • Plan and develop therapeutic intervention goals that are educationally relevant to the student's educational program.
  • Conduct periodic reassessment of therapy objectives as indicated by student needs.
  • Monitor and collaborate with other professionals and paraprofessionals involved in occupational therapy intervention procedures.
  • Document and maintain student progress reports in accordance with district and program guidelines.
  • Participate in IEP meetings as needed to present information relevant to the student's therapy goals.
  • Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the student's maturity level, interests, and needs.
  • Evaluate student progress and determine readiness for termination of occupational therapy services.
  • Facilitate in-service education and professional development for related service/occupational therapy staff.
  • Participate in training educational school staff in the use of assistive technology, such as adaptive equipment.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in occupational therapy or a related field.
  • Valid state occupational therapist (OT) license.
  • Prior experience and/or highly knowledgeable in providing occupational therapy services.
  • Prior experience and/or knowledge in special education services and compliance, particularly for students with autism-related disabilities and emotional disturbance.
  • Advanced skill in working with students with diverse needs at various levels.
  • Prior experience and highly knowledgeable in applied behavior analysis (ABA) preferred.
  • Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making ability.
  • Solid motivational skills and willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and new technology.
