We are seeking a skilled Park Maintenance Worker to join our team at the City of San Leandro, CA. As a key member of our Recreation & Parks Department, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing landscaped areas, including lawns, shrubs, hedges, trees, flowers, and sprinkler systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain landscaped areas, including watering, mowing, weeding, trimming, aerating, and fertilizing of lawns
  • Plant, cultivate, and fertilize trees, shrubs, and flowers
  • Operate and maintain power mowers, including riding mowers, and other maintenance equipment
  • Clean showers and restrooms, locker rooms, work sheds, barbecues, stands, and dugouts at baseball fields
  • Repair playground equipment and related buildings and facilities
  • Pick up debris, litter, and leaves
  • Remove dead plants, trees, and shrubs
  • Prepare paint surfaces and paint interior/exterior walls, wooden signs, fencing, benches, non-slip surfaces on steps, doors, and iron railings
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or certified equivalent (GED)
  • One year of experience in the maintenance and care of lawns, shrubs, and flowers, including watering and fertilization
  • Valid class C California driver's license for operating a motor vehicle
  • Possession and maintenance of State of California Department Food and Agriculture Qualified Applicator's certificate of Landscape Maintenance and Right-of-Way is highly desirable
Working Conditions:

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines and may involve working in inclement weather conditions. The regular schedule for available positions may require weekend shifts.
