Job Summary

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, actively performs up to two of the following responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the daily activities of subordinate personnel and the services they provide related to pre-admission testing, outpatient, same day surgery, emergency room, immediate care, inpatient, observation, and corporate health registrations, discharges, and admissions.
  • Monitors and ensures the accurate and timely input of patient, insurance, and clinical information into the appropriate admissions system.
  • Ensures department standards are met and excellent customer service is provided.
  • Provides assistance to staff in resolving issues with procedures, equipment, employees, physicians, and/or patients.
  • Performs the duties of a patient service representative.
Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Coordination
    • Coordinates the daily activities of subordinate personnel.
    • Ensures department standards are met.
  • Data Management
    • Monitors and ensures the accurate and timely input of patient, insurance, and clinical information.
  • Customer Service
    • Provides excellent customer service.
  • Problem Resolution
    • Provides assistance to staff in resolving issues.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • High School diploma or GED.
    • Proficiency with computer programs.
  • Preferred Education and Experience
    • Associate degree in business or healthcare.
    • Minimum two years of revenue cycle experience or minimum three years of patient access experience.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology, legal, and technical aspects of patient access and third-party insurances.
  • License and Certification
    • A valid driver's license is required if the incumbent is selected to perform related duties at an off-site location.
