Job Description

Job Title: Production Material Buyer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Production Material Buyer to join our team at Continental. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials for our production processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the sourcing decision of required components in alignment with Cluster Buyer
  • Document and archive all relevant data and files, including nomination letters
  • Create purchasing orders according to sourcing decisions
  • Manage suppliers, supplier development, and first-level escalation
  • Start RFQ processes to specifications and requirements
  • Evaluate RFQs, including price negotiation and selection of suppliers to achieve commercial targets
  • Carry out standard price planning of managed materials according to cluster strategy
  • Procurement marketing, including research for new and alternative suppliers
  • Provide required data for cluster analysis
  • Support product life cycle processes
  • Perform ERP system-related tasks, including purchase orders, schedule agreements, pricing, payment terms, and vendor details
  • Support vendor payment topics, invoices, and price discrepancies
  • Manage supplier evaluations
  • Support improvement of procurement processes
  • Collaborate with local and global purchasing management
  • Cooperate with interface departments and global purchasing organization

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in purchasing or 4 years of purchasing experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Professional technical understanding of procured materials
  • Experience using purchasing software
  • Negotiation skills and legal knowledge
  • Market knowledge of procured materials
  • English language proficiency
  • Project coordination skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SAP
