Position Summary

The Radiologic Imaging Specialist is responsible for operating imaging equipment to capture diagnostic images of patients as instructed by the attending physician, adhering to established protocols. The specialist will ensure proper patient positioning and equipment setup to achieve optimal imaging results while prioritizing safety and comfort.

This role involves performing Computed Tomography (CT) scans under the direction of the physician, including the administration of contrast materials, while monitoring for any adverse reactions. The specialist will maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with safety standards to protect both patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stay informed about departmental policies and operational procedures.
  • Assist in the upkeep and maintenance of imaging equipment, including cleaning and quality assurance tasks.
  • Educate patients on the benefits and risks associated with imaging procedures.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, including contrast administration and IV placements.
  • Complete necessary documentation related to patient care and imaging procedures.
  • Implement safety measures to minimize radiation exposure for patients and staff.
  • Maintain current knowledge of radiologic and CT imaging practices.
  • Demonstrate a foundational understanding of anatomy and physiology relevant to imaging.
  • Utilize appropriate body mechanics when assisting patients and handling equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and report any departmental concerns.
  • Transport patients safely to and from care areas.
  • Perform laboratory tests as required, ensuring compliance with clinical standards.
  • Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay updated on new technologies and procedures.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives as necessary.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in radiologic imaging and CT.
  • Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • State licensure and current BCLS certification.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to stand, sit, and move frequently, with the capability to lift and transport patients as necessary. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
