Position Overview:
We are looking for a skilled Pipette Calibration Technician to become a vital part of our Pipette Service Calibration division at Quality Control Services Inc, a subsidiary of Aldinger Co.
Your primary responsibilities will include conducting repairs, performing scheduled preventive maintenance, and executing calibrations on a diverse array of pipettes for our clientele, ensuring that all instruments comply with industry regulations and function accurately prior to their return.
Your meticulous attention to detail and technical proficiency will be essential in providing exceptional calibration services to our customers.The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with pipette operation and familiarity with laboratory or calibration service settings.
Work Environment:
This role necessitates a blend of laboratory work at our facility and on-site calibrations at client locations, with occasional overnight travel required throughout various states.
Key Responsibilities:
Engaging directly with clients throughout the entire process of repair, maintenance, and calibration, from the initial equipment intake to project completion, ensuring effective communication and timely updates.
Managing daily pipette tasks by ensuring thorough repairs, preventive maintenance, calibrations, and prompt return of pipettes to customers within established turnaround times.
Documenting all incoming customer pipettes in the appropriate systems.
Conducting As Found gravimetric evaluations of pipette performance using gravimetric balances.
Performing comprehensive inspections, preventive maintenance, and part replacements as necessary.
Maintaining clear verbal and written communication with customers regarding the status of their pipettes, including providing estimates and detailed repair evaluations.
Conducting quality checks and reviews of all completed work.
Generating, signing, dating, and distributing pipette calibration certificates.
Keeping accurate and up-to-date records of repairs, maintenance, and calibrations.
Packaging pipettes securely for transport back to clients via preferred courier services.
Adhering to ISO 8655 standards and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
Maintaining an adequate inventory of pipette tips, spare parts, lubricants, and laboratory supplies.
Proactively developing, updating, and refining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Creating new training materials to facilitate knowledge sharing and staying informed about the latest advancements in pipette repair, maintenance, and calibration.
Essential:
Minimum of 1 year of experience with pipette operation in a laboratory or calibration service context.
At least 1 year of experience in repair and preventive maintenance.
Proficient understanding of the metric system, particularly volume measurements (uL, mL).
Demonstrated ability to install and remove small components.
Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to climb, kneel, drive, and remain seated for extended periods.
Ability to push and maneuver up to 150 lbs using a cart or dolly.
Excellent customer service skills, including strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
Possession of a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Preferred:
Experience in process improvement within laboratory or analytical instrument service environments, with knowledge of calibration and repair processes.
Familiarity with Manufacturer's Quality Systems.
Knowledge of ISO 17025, ISO 8655, and GMP/GLP practices.
Prior experience with analytical balances.
Experience in shipping and receiving products.
Familiarity with using class 1 weights for daily balance checks.
Experience with IndySoft software.
