Position Overview:

ROLE SUMMARY:

As a Controls Engineer, you will be tasked with the design, development, installation, and maintenance of systems and equipment utilized for monitoring and controlling various processes. Your expertise will span across multiple sectors, including industrial and power control systems.

Controls Engineers are recognized as technical authorities in advanced process control, instrumentation, distributed control systems, PLCs, and SCADA systems. You will leverage these competencies to craft and implement solutions tailored to meet our clients' intricate requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

Technical Duties:

Design and Engineering
- Initiate and lead design documentation for large-scale projects
- Support smaller projects with design documentation
- Conduct requirements analysis and develop operational sequences
- Create subsystem designs, including CAD layouts and wiring
- Develop specifications and perform quality assurance reviews
- Plan and design integrated systems for factory testing

Programming
- Oversee programming and configuration efforts for complex automation and SCADA applications
- Troubleshoot PLCs, RTUs, and HMI systems

Testing and Commissioning
- Develop test plans and lead testing activities
- Author commissioning procedures and prepare test reports
- Conduct factory and field testing

Maintenance
- Troubleshoot service calls for existing systems

Managerial Duties:

Estimation and Proposal Development
- Lead proposal efforts for medium to large projects
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope
- Prepare cost estimates and evaluate change orders

Divisional Management
- Stay updated on emerging technical trends and guide division practices

Personnel Management
- Assign technical tasks to engineers and coordinate with entry-level staff

Qualifications:

Special Requirement:
US Citizenship required

Education/Experience:
- Master's degree in engineering or higher (subtract 2 years of experience)
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- Associate degree (add 3 years of experience)
- High school diploma (add 6 years of experience)
- 5-10 years of relevant experience

  • Proficient in reading electrical and control schematics
  • Experience in control system startup and calibration
  • Skilled in testing and troubleshooting control systems
  • Familiarity with electrical and machinist hand tools
  • Experience with industry-specific tools and software

Computer Skills:
- Knowledge of computer networks
- Proficient in CAD/CAE Software (Visio, AutoCAD)
- Familiarity with schedule management software
- Standard Office Software (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.)

Certificates and Licenses:
Required Certifications:
- Certification in one or more PLC/Automation Platforms (e.g., Niagara N4, Schneider, Rockwell, Siemens)
- Certification in one or more SCADA platforms (e.g., Iconics, Ignition)

Preferred Licenses/Certifications:
- Design Build Institute of America (DBIA)
- Certified SCADA Security Architect (CSSA)
- Certified Automation Professional (CAP)
