Role Overview:


The Senior Language Operations Analyst is responsible for executing tasks essential for processing voice and graphic language materials in support of SIGINT Operations.

This role requires proficiency in the following cryptologic language processing capabilities:
1. Extracting critical elements of information
2. Providing translations and/or transcripts from straightforward, factual written and spoken content
3. Typing proficiently on an English-language keyboard
4. Translating and transcribing complex written and spoken materials
5. Summarizing intricate written and spoken content
6. Scanning and categorizing foreign language documents
7. Conducting quality control reviews of translations and transcripts of complex materials
8. Transcribing sophisticated spoken content and translating intricate written materials

Qualifications:

Languages:
Proficiency in Chinese – Mandarin and Korean
A Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) degree, or equivalent international qualifications.

Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Skill Level 3 in both Audio Translation Performance and Translation Performance from the required languages into idiomatic, standard American English.

Scores from the NSA Civilian Language Test of Record, valid at the time of resume submission, may serve as acceptable validation for translation and audio translation skill levels.

ILR skill level validation must be documented within two years prior to resume submission.
Equivalent of fifteen years of full-time combined cryptologic language processing, related language, and/or relevant cryptologic experience.

In lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree, an additional four years of directly related, practical work experience may be substituted for a total of nineteen years of experience.

At least eight of the fifteen years of experience must involve Cryptologic Operations language processing.
At least eight of the fifteen years of experience must be in the required languages.

At least six of the eight years of experience in the required languages must be in cryptologic language processing.

At least five of the eight years of experience in the required languages must involve translating, transcribing, and summarizing.

At least three years of experience in the required languages must involve conducting quality control reviews of both audio and text translations at the ILR level 3.

For no more than seven of the required fifteen years of experience, reporting shall be the primary duty.

One year of the eight years of experience in the required languages must be within six years of resume submission.

One year of experience typing on an English keyboard.
Acceptable Experience for Senior Language Operations Analyst:

When performed within Cryptologic Operations, the lower-level tasks and the following tasks constitute acceptable cryptologic language processing experience: quality control of summaries, translations, and transcripts; and mentoring language analysts in language processing.

Performance of the following tasks constitutes acceptable related language experience: oral interpretation (from the required language into English and vice versa); text translation (from the required language into English and vice versa); audio translation (from the required language into English); audio transcription in the required language; document exploitation that involves summarizing/translation (from the required language into English); mentoring language analysts in language processing; and formal teaching of the required language in various learning environments.

Performance of the following tasks constitutes acceptable related cryptologic experience:

Within Cryptologic Operations:
target development; network analysis; drafting intelligence reports; speaker identification; language identification; and document exploitation that involves sorting/categorizing/language identification.
