Cardiac Sonographer

The Cardiac Sonographer is a critical member of the diagnostic imaging team at Monument Health, responsible for performing high-quality echocardiography-related procedures in various settings. This role requires a comprehensive knowledge of cardiovascular principles, ultrasound physics, and instrumentation, as well as the ability to produce and evaluate cardiac ultrasound images and related data used by physicians to render a medical diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform echocardiography-related procedures in various settings, including inpatient and outpatient environments.
Act as a liaison between staff, physicians, patients, and family members, exercising discretion and judgment in the performance of clinical examinations.
Provide accurate data to cardiologists reading exam studies, following exam policy and procedures.
Acquire and transmit echocardiograms to the appropriate PACS system, ensuring high-quality imaging and timely transmission.
Document preliminary results for cardiologists to read in the EMR, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
Requirements:
Associate's degree in Applied Science or related field.
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certification or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
1+ year of cardiac sonography experience, with experience performing TEEs and stress echo within the last year preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Heavy work, exerting up to 25 pounds of force constantly, and/or up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths, including 8 and 12 hours, which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
