Key Responsibilities

The Department of Radiation Oncology at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, is seeking a qualified radiation oncologist to enhance our expanding team, support our existing practice, and prepare for the pioneering Carbon-Ion Therapy Center.


The Radiation Oncologist will be expected to employ all radiation modalities, including IMRT, brachytherapy, and SBRT, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to manage patients with various malignancies.

Exceptional clinical skills and a strong interest in clinical research are essential. Experience in proton therapy is beneficial but not mandatory. A background in clinical trial research is preferred.


Proudly affiliated with the top hospital in Florida, the Department of Radiation Oncology in Jacksonville is a premier center for excellence in patient care, innovation, and education.

Our current equipment includes Varian TrueBeam linacs, a Gamma Knife ICON, Mobetron, GE CT simulator with wide bore and 4D capability, and an Elekta Flexitron HDR remote afterloader, along with Eclipse and ARIA systems.

Treatment procedures encompass all conventional radiation therapy, in addition to specialized RT modalities such as IORT, TBI, TSET, HDR, SRS, SBRT, BH, and LDR eye plaques.

Furthermore, we are set to commence construction of an integrated oncology facility that will feature the first Carbon Therapy system in North America, a two-gantry proton facility, MR and CT simulators, and conventional linacs.


The Department currently comprises 12 physician faculty, 4 radiation oncology residents, 12 physicists, and 4 advanced practice providers, with plans for significant growth in the coming years in preparation for the particle therapy center.

Our cohesive team is actively engaged in supporting subspecialty clinical practice, education, and research in radiation oncology.


Mayo Clinic Cancer Center is a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center, the only one with three geographic sites, located in Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona; Jacksonville, Florida; and Rochester, Minnesota.

The Cancer Center secures over $100 million in competitive peer-reviewed grants annually, including the highly sought-after NCI Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPORE) grants.
