Metal Finishing Specialist
**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a skilled Metal Finishing Specialist to join our production team at Wabash Inc. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing various tasks necessary to metal finish component parts, transportation tanks, and bottles during the production process.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Inspect equipment to ensure safe operating condition and complete preventative maintenance checks prior to beginning work.
* Examine all surface areas and welds to detect defects.
* Work in confined spaces for periods of up to four hours.
* Set up, adjust, and operate equipment in a safe, efficient, and accurate manner to produce required parts.
* Use electrical and pneumatic shop tools to flaps and blends weld burns on the exterior and interior of tanks.
* Buff outside heads and grind manhole covers and outlet pods using electrical and pneumatic shop tools.
* Grind welds, deburr rough metal, and produce various finishes on metal.
* Stone grind, peen, belt, flap, and blend seams on the inside of the bottle using pneumatic shop tools.
* Complete assigned duties in accordance with safety policies and practices.
* Wear approved personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, respirators, etc.
**Requirements:**
* Ability to read and understand a tape measure.
* Proficient with basic shop math.
* Physical dexterity.
* Ability to apply grinding techniques to a variety of parts using electrical and pneumatic shop tools.
* Ability and willingness to cooperate with co-workers and work as part of a production team.
* Proficiently and safely use small shop machinery and hand tools.
* Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
* Basic reading, writing, and verbal skills.
