The selected individual will engage in the daily functions of the Ground Support Technical Operations (GSTO) team, contributing to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) Artemis initiative. Responsibilities include supporting Launch Vehicle Processing, Testing, and Validation of both flight and ground systems.

Key Responsibilities:
As an Operational Technician, you will be integral in supporting Launch Vehicle Processing, Testing, and Validation of Artemis flight hardware and associated ground systems. Key tasks include:

  • Interpreting engineering drawings and adhering to strict safety protocols.
  • Maintaining compliance with safety regulations and completing physical requirements.
  • Engaging in shift work, including weekends and overtime as necessary.

Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, along with one year of relevant experience or technical training. A background in mechanical and/or electrical fields, particularly in aviation or aerospace, is highly preferred.

Essential Skills:
Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and interpret engineering documentation.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Capability to pass a SCAPE Physical and maintain a security clearance.

Physical and Work Environment:
This role may involve handling hazardous materials and requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Employees must be able to distinguish colors and comply with safety policies. Work is primarily conducted indoors, with potential outdoor tasks depending on project requirements.

Additional Requirements:
Candidates must be U.S. citizens and able to obtain necessary certifications for operating Material Handling Equipment. Effective interaction with colleagues and supervisors is essential, along with the ability to communicate ideas clearly.

This position is based at Kennedy Space Center.
