Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Staff Attorney to join our team at Prairie State Legal Services. As a Staff Attorney, you will play a critical role in providing legal services to low-income individuals and families in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal representation to clients in a wide range of areas, including housing, family, public benefits, consumer, health, education, and other areas.
  • Conduct client interviews and assessments to identify legal issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local community organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Participate in outreach and education efforts to promote access to justice and increase awareness of our services.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective case management strategies and ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in the field of legal aid.
Requirements
  • Admission to the Illinois bar or eligibility for reciprocity.
  • Experience in trial advocacy and negotiation preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
