Job Summary

UPMC Hamot is seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant to join our team on the 3 South Observation Acute Care Unit. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional patient care, assist with procedures, and support physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies.

Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care, assist with procedures, and support physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies.
  • Perform core nursing assistant responsibilities, including vital signs, specimen collection, blood glucose monitoring, I&O, and more.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, maintain effective communication, and establish respectful relationships within the team.
  • Contribute to unit activities, such as responding to call lights, passing meal trays, and transporting patients.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members and demonstrate cultural competence and professionalism.
  • Follow all safety and patient care policies and procedures, documenting in medical records as required.
  • Assist in patient and family education under RN direction, including applying and removing restraints per protocol.
  • Support department projects, quality initiatives, and handle clerical functions as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of general healthcare experience or completion of a UPMC patient care technician class.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
  • Act 34 clearance required.
