Job SummaryUnder general supervision, the Electrical Engineer will provide electrical, control, and communications engineering expertise in support of operation and maintenance of USAF facilities in a remote and austere environment. The successful candidate will assist in the formulation and development of electrical engineering discipline costs and pricing estimates for operations and maintenance work and projects.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with a team of engineers to analyze operational efficiency activities, identify cost-effective sustaining and engineering improvements, and provide design input on projects.
- Coordinate with other system owners, maintenance crews, and construction trades to drive projects and daily tasks.
- Develop operations and maintenance documentation and collaborate with vendors providing services.
- Provide design engineering input for existing system modifications, upgrades, and new equipment installations.
- Support operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all electrical distribution systems and equipment.
- Create, review, and implement electrical switching procedures required to move loads for maintenance and construction activities.
- Provide Operations and Maintenance (O&M) engineering for high and medium voltage distribution systems, including Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA).
- Support low voltage power systems and electric metering and power generation.
- Perform facility condition assessments and prepare reports.
- Travel to remote sites, estimated 25% of position time.
- Minimum three (3) years' experience in facilities engineering with increasing responsibility in electrical design and project management.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance.
- Design experience in electrical engineering and knowledge of architectural and other engineering disciplines.
- Ability to write, review, and implement project proposals, plans, and specifications.
- Skilled in the reading and interpretation of Contractual documents.
- Experience with fire alarm instrumentation and control systems.
- Proficient in standard business office software and familiar with AutoCAD.
- Master's degree in engineering or ten years of experience in a related field.
- Professional Electrical Engineer's registration in the State of Alaska.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience or training in arc-flash analysis.
The following physical activities are frequently required of an Engineer: balancing, bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, communicating in person, by phone or through written correspondence, hearing, and seeing.
