Key Responsibilities

The Chief Sales Officer will oversee sales operations across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC. Key responsibilities include:

  • Global Sales Strategy Formulation: Create and implement a comprehensive sales strategy aimed at driving revenue growth, increasing market share, and fulfilling business goals through both new customer acquisition and the expansion of existing accounts worldwide.
  • Leadership Development: Recruit, inspire, and guide a high-performing sales team, promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability, and ongoing improvement.
  • Coaching and Development: Mentor and cultivate the next generation of sales leaders through active listening, constructive feedback, and recognition of achievements.
  • Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their needs, addressing concerns, and ensuring satisfaction in collaboration with the Customer Success team. As a usage-based business, CircleCI's success hinges on delivering value to customers through continuous engagement with our platform.
  • Sales Planning and Performance Management: Develop and execute effective sales plans, establishing clear objectives, monitoring targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the sales team, and collaborating with Finance and Operations to create accurate sales forecasts that inform decision-making.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Marketing, Product, and Customer Success teams to align sales and growth strategies, drive potential product enhancements, and improve the customer experience.
  • Industry Representation: Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows, enhancing brand visibility, expanding networks, and identifying new business opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Experience: A proven track record of at least 10 years in sales leadership roles, ideally within the software development tools, SaaS, or Cloud platforms, with experience in building and leading teams of over 100 globally.
  • Sales Achievement: Demonstrated success in driving sales growth through both land-and-expand strategies within existing clients and acquiring new customer logos, consistently meeting or exceeding targets while managing high-performance sales teams.
  • Customer-Centric Approach: A deep understanding of customer needs, exceptional relationship-building skills, and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer experiences for both high-growth companies and global enterprises.
  • Strategic Insight: Ability to develop, implement, and execute effective sales and growth strategies aligned with business objectives, with a focus on measurement and adjustment as necessary.
  • Collaborative Partnering: Proven ability to work with internal teams, including Marketing, Customer Success, and Product, to drive high-value customer outcomes and sales growth.
  • Communication Proficiency: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of effectively presenting complex concepts and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of the DevOps and cloud sectors, including key players, market dynamics, and emerging trends.
  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
