Certified Medical Assistant

We are seeking a skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our multidisciplinary treatment team. As a key member of our team, you will provide direct care to clients, including administering medications, conducting vision and hearing screenings, and completing minor medical interventions as directed by physicians and/or the Nursing Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities- Support client care delivery by assisting licensed nurses and physicians during examinations, preparing laboratory specimens, and disposing of contaminated supplies.
- Maintain knowledge of individualized treatment plans and provide support to clients according to the plan.
- Contribute to the care planning process by providing Treatment Team members with specific information and observations of client responses to medical/dental interventions.
- Interact with clients in a manner that promotes a caring treatment environment.
- Report incidents or evidence of client abuse or violation of client rights to the Nursing Supervisor.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, organized, and clean treatment environment.
- Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
- Observe and monitor clients for changes in condition or behavior and report these changes to the Nursing Supervisor and/or appropriate members of the Treatment Team.
- Communicate and interact effectively and tactfully with each client, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of all protected health information of clients and staff.
- Document all medical-related services rendered according to Pathway policy and in compliance with applicable agency requirements.
- Establish and maintain competence in the use of Pathway's electronic health record.
- Participate in training as outlined in the Staff Development and Training Plan and provide evidence of continuous professional certification(s).
- Communicate with physicians as directed by the Nursing Supervisor and transcribe, clarify, and implement physician's orders as appropriate to qualifications.
- Graduate from an accredited school and/or complete an accredited program with a diploma and/or certificate for a Certified Medical Assistant.
- Minimum of three months experience in the provision of medical assistant services, preferably in a similar treatment environment.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and respond effectively to inquiries or complaints from licensing agency representatives, staff, clients, and family members.
- Ability to calculate figures related to medication dosages.
The employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is subject to hostile and emotionally upset clients, family members, staff, and visitors. The employee has a minimal risk of being exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to the AIDS, hepatitis B, and tuberculosis viruses. The employee performs tasks that may involve exposure to blood or body fluids. All employees are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis B vaccination series, and personal protective equipment is provided.
