The Psychologist II (Forensic Evaluator) is tasked with performing high-level psychological assessments and evaluations. This role involves conducting competency evaluations and violence risk assessments, ensuring that each patient receives thorough and individualized attention. The Psychologist II will also oversee and coordinate forensic psychological programs and activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regular attendance and adherence to a flexible work schedule as required.
  • Develop and coordinate forensic psychological programs.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations for forensic patients, utilizing standardized psychological instruments.
  • Collaborate with the psychology director and administration to enhance the forensic treatment process.
  • Provide training and guidance on forensic evaluations and competency restoration.
  • Deliver expert testimony in court regarding forensic psychological assessments.
  • Implement strategies to minimize the use of restraints, fostering a trauma-informed care environment.
  • Engage in case outreach and provide educational resources to various stakeholders.
  • Support hospital safety and risk management initiatives.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and committees.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Expertise in forensic psychological assessment and treatment.
  • Proficiency in various psychotherapeutic modalities.
  • Ability to conduct clear and concise psychological evaluations and reports.
  • Capacity to educate and supervise staff in therapeutic practices.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and external stakeholders.

Licensure Requirements:

  • Must hold a valid Psychologist license in Texas or a reciprocity state.
  • A doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited institution.

Initial Selection Criteria:

  • Doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of one year of supervised experience in psychological services.
  • Experience in conducting forensic evaluations and psychological assessments.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide individual and group therapy.
