Job Summary

Regional Cancer Care Associates is seeking an exceptional Laboratory Services Supervisor to join our team. This position is responsible for the efficient operation of a moderate or high complexity laboratory facility, ensuring accurate and timely testing procedures, and compliance with applicable regulations regarding laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Acts as working general supervisor for the laboratory, performing routine tests as required and developing knowledge of more complex tests to perform as needed.
  • Supervises laboratory personnel, evaluating qualifications, interviewing, hiring, monitoring, and evaluating performance, training, and assigning training of lab personnel.
  • Establishes and monitors quality assurance, quality control, proficiency testing, and routine maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Reviews patient test results, quality control, proficiency testing, and maintenance records, ensuring that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is properly functioning.
  • Maintains awareness of and compliance with state and federal regulations regarding laboratory operations and licensing, as well as state and federal OSHA regulations and other safety regulations.
  • Orders supplies and equipment, evaluates new equipment and reagents for technical suitability and cost effectiveness, and performs cost analysis on major equipment purchases.
  • Analyzes the true cost of providing individual tests and other laboratory services, recommending pricing of tests and other services based on this analysis.
  • Interfaces with other disciplines to ensure a smoothly functioning and efficient operation, maintains a clean working environment, and restocks the laboratory area as needed.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information related to patients and medical staff, and assists management in budgeting, cost analysis, marketing, and managed care contracts.
Requirements
  • Associates degree in Medical Technology or related science field, Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology preferred.
  • Minimum five years experience in laboratory testing, previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • ASCP or equivalent certification required, current state licensure if required.
