Gordon Food Service is seeking a highly skilled Food Safety Quality Assurance Specialist to lead our supplier community engagement and drive accountability for compliance to food safety and quality expectations and company goals.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Development of the Supplier Compliance Program: Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the GFS Food Safety Supplier audit program, including regulatory compliance programs for foreign suppliers.
- Execute Supplier 3rd Party Audit Program: Track, technically review, and follow up on supplier 3rd party audits, and own program development and continuous improvement.
- Develop Supplier Assessment Program: Create scorecards, key performance indicators, and criteria for compliance to food safety, quality, and GFS performance, ensuring data relevance and visibility to stakeholders.
- Develop Supplier Food Fraud Program: Develop a risk ranking and intervention program to mitigate food fraud risks.
- Review and Approve New Foreign Suppliers: Ensure compliance with FDA Food Safety Modernization Act and CFIA Safe Food for Canadians regulation for new foreign suppliers and items.
- Act as FSQA Supplier Subject Matter Expert: Participate in cross-functional initiatives and projects to provide support, expertise, and solutions on GFS supplier engagement, collaboration, and compliance.
- Develop and Own the Gordon Food Service Supplier 3rd Party Audit Program: Support issues resolution for non-conforming suppliers and audits, and lead ongoing assessments of the adequacy of GFS supplier audit program.
- Lead Quality Issue Resolution: Resolve quality issues on identified non-conforming suppliers and products, and drive supplier compliance and continuous improvement.
- Develop and/or Revise Quality Manual Documents: Ensure quality systems support and training to Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and provide quality systems support and training to SMEs.
- Execute Product Recalls: Manage the entire recall process, from product isolation to customer communication, and execute traceability activities in support of regulatory requests.
- Lead Investigation and Communication Plan: Respond to recalls occurring in the industry, and support reporting for Vendor Business Reviews (VBRs) and Category Market Reviews (CMRs).
- Develop Approach and Ensure Availability of Routine Reports: Develop approach and ensure availability of routine reports for Vendor Business Reviews (VBR), the Vendor Involvement Process (VIP), Quarterly Specification reporting, Supplier Assessments, and other reporting necessary to support business needs.
- Proven Record of Successful Collaborative Project Management: Proven track record of successful collaborative project management.
- Strong Business Acumen and Ability to Influence Stakeholders: Strong business acumen and ability to influence stakeholders and gain buy-in.
- Three to Five Years of Previous Experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and/or Food Safety: Three to five years of previous experience in quality assurance, quality control, and/or food safety is required.
- Certification in Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), HACCP, GFSI (Preferred): Certification in Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), HACCP, GFSI (Preferred).
- Strong Math Aptitude and Detail-Oriented: Strong math aptitude, including the ability to perform statistical analysis, and detail-oriented with good project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent Written and Verbal Communications Skills: Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
