Job Title: School Nurse - RN

Amergis is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team as a School Nurse in a school setting. As a School Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to students, collaborating with school personnel, and ensuring the health and well-being of students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize the nursing process to plan, implement, and evaluate student care needs
  • Demonstrate on each assignment the provision of skilled nursing care in accordance with prescribed orders/IHP
  • Perform interventions, treatments, and medications administration according to the identified priorities as outlined in the IHP
  • Monitor and document the effectiveness of interventions, treatments, and medications
  • Complete documentation per district expectations
  • Coordinate and facilitate services as requested between the school, local health agencies, and other community resources to meet the needs of the student
  • Communicate with school district personnel about student's plan of care/IHP
  • Notify District School Nurse/Parent/Physician as outlined in the IHP regarding changes in the condition of the student and physician notification to obtain necessary orders
  • Collaborate with school/education personnel/other health agencies as requested to design and meet student's health care needs
  • Evaluate and assure student safety at all times
  • Adhere to Amergis Healthcare and school district policies
  • Maintain accuracy in student health record
  • Adhere to district protocol and policy at all times
  • Participate in student care conference/Individualized Education Program (IEP) at the request of the school district
  • Support student medical needs during transport as applicable
Requirements:
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in state(s) where practicing
  • One year of school nursing experience, preferred
  • Pediatric experience, preferred
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
  • Current CPR if applicable
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
