Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled VDC Designer III to join our team at TDIndustries. As a key member of our construction technology team, you will be responsible for preparing and maintaining detailed design drawings, schematics, and specifications using computer-aided design software. You will work closely with design originators to resolve design details and discrepancies, and create, modify, and control detailed two- and three-dimensional parts and assembly drawings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate construction and fabrication drawings for manufacturing using CADD, AutoCAD, and Revit systems.
  • Provide on-site support for field personnel and interface with other team leaders, project managers, and shop fabrication managers.
  • Coordinate overall schedules, including BIM logs, with department managers, project managers, and field supervision.
  • Ensure optimization of the model to drive DfMA and work with project leadership to maximize prefabrication opportunities.
  • Facilitate Scrum team processes, remove obstacles, and act as a liaison between the Scrum team and outside teams.
  • Participate in Handover/BIM Kickoff meetings, collect and redistribute specification summaries, and own the process of job profiles setup.
  • Review engineering and contractual documents, coordinate architectural and structural documents, and ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate draft construction drawings with other trades, attend Weekly BIM meetings, and interact with GC and other Subs.
  • Perform site surveys and field measurement work as needed, make final checks, and review trade drawings prior to fabrication release.
  • Provide completed and complex construction drawings to the shop and job site management, and review work from coordinators for timely completion and drawing quality.
  • Monitor work in progress, review completed work, and ensure compliance with department standards and a high standard of drawing quality.
  • Review contractual documents and construction drawings for apparent conflicts and ensure compliance with local code requirements.
  • Identify issues, bring them to the attention of project management, and facilitate the RFI process.
  • Manage document control, interpret discrepancies, and approve Requests for Information (RFIs) and Coordination Change Orders (CCOs).
  • Monitor cost and schedule, advise project management of potential overruns, and perform other duties as required.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of VDC Mechanical Piping experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree in Drafting, Design Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Basic understanding of current design software, such as AutoDesk.
  • Working knowledge of drawing production and standard construction techniques and principles.
