Key Responsibilities:
- Perform foot or vehicle patrol of perimeters, roadways, parking, and other high traffic areas to confirm the entry control process is following established procedures and regulations.
- Monitor alarm systems to detect, interrupt, and identify criminal activity.
- Perform functional checks of alarm systems to certify proper operation of systems.
- Interview persons to obtain or verify information related to suspicious persons or activity.
- Speak with witnesses or persons involved in accidents to obtain statements.
- Apprehend or detain individuals in accordance with regulations or laws.
- May serve as a competent witness in a court of law or testify on the results of violations.
- Check credentials of personnel or vehicles to control access to base posts, buildings, private property, or restricted areas.
- Direct vehicles and pedestrian traffic during periods of emergency or increased traffic.
- Respond to rapid changes in conditions of readiness to maintain security.
Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-05:
- Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Screening and/or inspecting personal and commercial vehicles requesting installation access;
- Controlling personnel access by verifying identification/credentials;
- Patrolling buildings or perimeters for suspicious activity;
- Maintaining desk logs, desk journals, and pass-down logbooks to document security events.
Additional Information:
- This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
- This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.
- Several vacancies may be filled.
- A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
- Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees.
- This position may require working a rotating shift.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements.
- Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
