Position Overview
The MRI Research Specialist in Cardiology is responsible for conducting a range of high-quality Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examinations for both clinical and research purposes, ensuring exceptional patient care throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced cardiac MRI procedures, contributing to both diagnostic and investigational studies.
- Engage in the development of interventional and diagnostic cardiac MRI research initiatives.
- Support the establishment of safe policies and procedures for interventional cardiac research.
- Conduct additional MRI examinations as required, beyond cardiac imaging.
Qualifications
Minimum Experience
At least 2 years of clinical MRI imaging experience in a healthcare setting is required. Experience in pediatric or cardiac imaging is preferred, along with familiarity in a cardiac catheterization or hybrid MRI lab environment.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in patient care, technical procedures, and evaluation skills is necessary. Competence in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) is required. The ability to independently perform a variety of clinical and research cardiac MRI procedures effectively is essential. Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and familiarity with contrast agents used in MRI is important.
Research Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and maintenance of cardiac research projects.
- Ensure compliance with human subject research standards and protocols.
- Participate in both on-site and off-site cardiac MRI research activities.
- Support data collection and development for cardiac research initiatives.
- Contribute to the creation of educational materials for multi-center conferences and present findings at various professional gatherings.

- Verify patient information and exam requests to ensure accuracy.
- Adhere to proper equipment operation procedures and troubleshoot any malfunctions.
- Maintain compliance with American College of Radiology (ACR) standards.
- Respond to feedback from Radiology Faculty regarding performance improvement.

- Maintain cleanliness and organization of MRI facilities.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families about procedures and expectations.
- Address any customer service concerns promptly.

- Follow all safety regulations and guidelines related to MRI procedures.
- Conduct safety checks for patients prior to examinations.
