Summary:
The Cardiac Catheterization Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating patient care in collaboration with various healthcare professionals, employing nursing principles and critical thinking to ensure patient safety and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct patient care, assess outcomes, and consult with specialists as necessary to adapt nursing care processes for optimal patient safety.
- Document initial nursing assessments, evaluate patient conditions, and develop tailored care plans.
- Conduct thorough rounds on all units, reviewing patient statuses and addressing any concerns.
- Communicate with physicians regarding any unusual occurrences or issues that require immediate attention.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to implement and reinforce patient education, providing relevant materials and addressing specific concerns.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care, consulting with specialists as needed to adjust care processes accordingly.
- Identify and address workplace health and safety concerns.
- Administer direct patient care using appropriate aseptic techniques.
- Manage IV lines and ensure adherence to sterile protocols, overseeing patient positioning for safety.
- Administer pharmacological agents for diagnostic imaging, complying with established competency standards.
- Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations, taking corrective action when necessary.
- Provide orientation and education to new staff members.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required. Some positions may necessitate additional specialized training.
Experience: A minimum of one year of nursing experience in an acute care environment is preferred. Specific roles may require additional experience in specialized areas.
Licensure or Certification: Current RN licensure in the State of Arizona and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification are mandatory. Advanced certifications may be required for certain departments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Comprehensive understanding of patient care protocols and critical care techniques.
- Familiarity with exam indicators and patient preparation procedures.
- Effective communication skills to interact with healthcare staff and physicians.
- Proficiency in interpreting 12-lead EKGs.
- Ability to analyze problems, gather data, and draw valid conclusions.
- Competence in reading and interpreting safety guidelines and procedural manuals.
