Benchmark Senior Living is seeking a dedicated and skilled Culinary Specialist to take pride in providing our Assisted Living Residents with wholesome, high-quality, 'homestyle' meals. The Culinary Specialist is responsible for preparing food in compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, while adhering to established Benchmark policies and procedures. The Food Services Director will oversee these responsibilities to ensure consistent delivery of exceptional food service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluates menus prior to food preparation
  • Handles administrative tasks such as completing necessary documentation and reports
  • Ensures adherence to all dietary protocols
  • Must be proficient in operating all kitchen equipment safely and effectively, including but not limited to: meat slicers, food processors, mixers, ovens, grills, steamers, dishwashers, and warmer cabinets.
  • Maintains organization of the walk-in freezer, storeroom, kitchen tables, and countertops
  • Assists in establishing an efficient food production line to guarantee timely meal preparation
  • Represents the community positively and proudly when engaging with potential residents and their families
  • Prepares and serves nutritious meals while ensuring exceptional presentation and flavor for our residents.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Culinary Arts training and Serve Safe certification preferred
  • 5 years of dietary experience in Assisted Living preferred

    SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to interact effectively with residents and staff.
  • Capable of working collaboratively with residents and personnel.
  • Adept at following both written and verbal instructions.
  • Knowledgeable about dietary procedures, as well as relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines related to food service operations.
  • Possesses leadership qualities and a willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise both professional and non-professional staff.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • This role primarily involves standing for extended periods, with exposure to varying temperatures.
