Position Overview
As a Catering Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing and supporting all facets of catered events, from preparation and setup to service, breakdown, and cleanup.

Your role will involve providing consistent leadership, training, and support to catering staff to ensure adherence to safety, sanitation, quality, presentation standards, and maintaining customer satisfaction at all times.

Education Requirements
High School Diploma
Experience Requirements
Minimum of 2 years in the Hospitality, Catering, or Conference industry.
Essential Skills and Characteristics
  • Outstanding customer service abilities
  • Capability to professionally manage high-end catering events
  • Knowledge of front-of-house operations with a keen eye for detail
  • Strong leadership and training capabilities
  • Proficient in multitasking
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Must obtain ServSafe certification within 12 months of employment

Special Working Conditions
This role requires the ability to lift, pull, and push up to 50 pounds, as well as to stoop, stand, and walk while performing setup, teardown, and service duties. You will need to navigate uneven surfaces in various weather conditions and be available for flexible hours, including weekends.

Essential Duties
1. Supervise the setup, execution, and teardown of all catering services on and off campus.
2. Assist in the planning and development of catering events.
3. Prepare pick sheets for events to ensure proper pre-event organization and assist in scheduling.
4. Monitor staffing coverage for events and troubleshoot as necessary.
5. Participate in weekly banquet event order (BEO) and catering departmental meetings.
6. Lead training and shadowing programs for student staff under the guidance of the Catering Assistant Manager.
7. Oversee student staff, ensuring proper attire and task completion.
8. Supervise and assist with the catering cleaning schedule and side work.
9. Ensure effective communication with culinary staff regarding service times, dietary needs, and any changes before or during events.
10. Assign specific roles for service staff at larger events.
11. Conduct pre-service meetings for large events to clarify details and staff assignments.
12. Provide feedback to the Catering Manager and Assistant Manager to enhance catering operations.
13. Offer administrative support to the Catering Manager as needed.
14. Assist in maintaining the SOP book to reflect evolving catering requirements.
15. Update BEOs to capture the latest changes.
16. Keep accurate inventory records for all front-of-house equipment, linens, and service ware.
17. Monitor food handling, quality, sanitation, and portion control standards for all items prepared and served.

18. Maintain reliable and consistent attendance.
