Acute Dialysis Nurse Specialist

Become an expert in delivering high-quality care to patients with acute kidney failure at Fresenius Medical Center. This challenging and rewarding role requires dialysis or critical care experience, but paid training is provided. With a competitive salary of approximately $83,000 per year, you'll have the opportunity to advance your career as an Acute RN.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide and coordinate clinically competent care for assigned patients, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Participate in decision-making, teaching, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities that enhance patient care outcomes and program operations.
- Collect and analyze patient data, documenting it accurately and thoroughly in the medical record.
- Recognize and report variations in patient status to healthcare team members.
- Direct and provide safe, effective patient care as prescribed by physicians.
- Communicate effectively with FKC and non-FKC dialysis providers and hospital personnel as needed.
- Administer medications as directed by prescriptions and contractual agreements.
- Ensure nephrology physician orders are received and entered into the medical record promptly.
- Enter treatment data into the designated medical record thoroughly and in a timely manner.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- The position requires frequent prolonged periods of standing and occasional lifting of equipment up to 200 lbs.
- The employee may be required to move machines and equipment with assistance and lift chemical and water solutions up to 30 lbs. as high as 5 feet.
- The work environment is characteristic of a health care facility with air temperature control and moderate noise levels.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current appropriate state licensure.
- Must meet practice requirements in all states where employed.
- Entry-level for RNs with less than 2 years of nephrology nursing experience within the last two years or for RNs with a BSN and less than 1 year of nephrology nursing experience within the last two years.
- Minimum of 9 months experience as a Registered Nurse (preferred).
- Minimum 6 months nephrology experience required before working independently without a qualified dialysis RN.
- 6 months dialysis experience required to be on-call.
- Hemodialysis and/or ICU experience (preferred).
