Tailored specifically for new graduate RNs with less than one year of experience, our Residency Program equips novice nurses for success from day one. Available across all 12 Sentara hospitals, this immersive program integrates practical skills with hands-on training, professional development, and mentoring, empowering you to confidently transition into your nursing career in Medical Surgical nursing, Intermediate Care, Critical Care, Emergency Care, the Operating Room, or Women's Health.

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) form the foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses the clinical knowledge and skills necessary to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Qualifications:

RN-Associate's Degree (Required), RN-Diploma (Non-degree) (Required), RN-Bachelor's Level Degree (Preferred), RN-Master's Level Degree (Preferred). Required certifications include Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and a Registered Nurse (RN) Single State Nursing License.
