Job Summary:
Geisinger Laboratory Medicine is in search of a board-eligible or board-certified cytopathologist. Additional specialization in head and neck or pulmonary pathology is preferred.

OVERVIEW:


Integrated pathology services operating within a sub-specialty model at Geisinger practice. Opportunities for academic appointments and research are available through Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine. Access to a comprehensive array of immunohistochemical stains and advanced ancillary testing, including organ-specific NGS testing, conducted in-house. Teaching duties encompass medical students, pathology residents, and a well-established cytopathology fellowship program. Annual case volumes include approximately 98,000 surgical pathology cases and 45,000 cytopathology cases, which consist of 15,000 Non-GYN and 30,000 GYN Pap tests. The department comprises 44 pathologists and PhDs, including 9 cytopathologists and 9 cytotechnologists. Multiple hospital sites offer dedicated Fine Needle Aspiration Services for pathologist-performed FNAs, with all locations supporting rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) utilizing telecytology. The cytology quality management system features fully automated real-time dashboards.

Geisinger Community Medical Center (G-CMG) is an acute care facility with a capacity of 297 beds, housing the only Level I Trauma Center in the region and the sole neurosurgery program in the area.

It also provides comprehensive cardiovascular and orthopedic services, alongside a wide range of surgical and radiological services.
