Job Summary

As a Medical Assistant at American Family Care, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in an outpatient clinic setting. This is a dynamic and rewarding opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with a team of healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients, ensuring they understand their care plan
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner, maintaining a high level of attention to detail
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved procedures, prioritizing patient safety
  • Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing, adhering to established protocols
  • Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions, staying up-to-date with the latest procedures
  • Respond to all lab messages and call back requests, providing timely and effective communication
  • Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations, maintaining confidentiality and discretion
  • Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with approved procedures, prioritizing patient safety
  • Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis, collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care
  • Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures, maintaining a clean and safe environment
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation, adhering to established standards and protocols
Qualifications

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong foundation in healthcare. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred
